Frequently asked questions about Brighton & Hove Community Radio live
Brighton & Hove Community Radio has no place on the dial. It is one of the many British stations that launched as a stream rather than applying to Ofcom for a frequency, which is why specialist formats like this one exist at all — the audience for them is spread too thin for local FM. It plays here with nothing to install.
It is a distinct licence category in the UK, created by Ofcom for stations serving a specific place or community. They are not-for-profit, run largely by volunteers, and required to demonstrate social benefit rather than audience share.
Not blocked. Listening to British radio from abroad is one of the more common uses of streaming, and Brighton & Hove Community Radio is available worldwide, free and without an account.
Free, with no subscription and no paid tier. British radio is funded either by advertising or, in the BBC's case, by the licence fee — either way, listening costs the listener nothing.
No. Brighton & Hove Community Radio plays directly in the browser with nothing to download and no account to create. It works the same on Android, iPhone and desktop.
