About Heart 80s live

Technical details, frequency and station information

Heart 80s is Global's national station for 1980s pop: synth-pop, stadium rock, new romantics and the chart hits of a decade that has aged into something like a British national songbook. It launched on 14 March 2017 as the first of Heart's decade stations; today the family also includes Heart 70s, 90s, 00s and 10s. The 80s carry an unusual double audience. People who grew up with these records treat them as memory, while a younger audience has discovered the same songs through film, television and streaming, with none of the nostalgia. That is a big part of why 80s formats outlast most other spin-offs. The weekday breakfast show is presented by Simon Beale, who took over in January 2024 from Neil 'Roberto' Williams, the station's original breakfast presenter. Pat Sharp has covered the show since May 2024. Outside breakfast the format is mostly continuous music with short links, made for background listening at work or in the car. Heart 80s is on DAB+ across the UK on the Digital One multiplex. On 28 August 2019 it switched from mono DAB to stereo DAB+, which freed up the space to launch Heart 90s the following day. It is also on Sky, Virgin Media and Global Player, and on the live stream here.
