About Times Radio live

Technical details, frequency and station information

Times Radio is a national news and current affairs station owned by News UK, the publisher of The Times and The Sunday Times. It launched on 29 June 2020 and broadcasts from the News Building in central London. It arrived as a deliberate alternative to the louder end of talk radio. There are no phone-ins: the schedule is built from long, presenter-led programmes of interviews, analysis and conversation, drawing on the newspapers' journalists, with news bulletins every hour. That puts it in competition with BBC Radio 4 and LBC, but from a different angle — Radio 4 mixes news with drama and comedy, and LBC built its audience on callers and strong opinion. Its presenters include some of the best-known names in British broadcasting, among them Andrew Neil, Cathy Newman, Stig Abell, John Pienaar, Stephen Sackur and Ryan Tubridy. The launch itself said something about the industry. A newspaper starting a national radio station in 2020 went against most assumptions about media, and it was possible because digital radio removed the old barrier of scarce FM frequencies. The station was also designed to bring new readers to The Times's digital subscriptions. It reached around 604,000 listeners a week in March 2026, according to RAJAR. Times Radio is on DAB across the UK on the Sound Digital multiplex, on Sky since July 2026, in its own app and on smart speakers.
