About TMM 1 live
Technical details, frequency and station information
TMM 1 is the main channel of The Music Machine, an independent alternative music station run by Sammy Jacob, the founder of the original XFM — the London station that brought indie and alternative music to licensed British radio in the 1990s.
The station has had several names. It began as NME Radio, linked to the music magazine, which broadcast from 24 June 2008 until 25 March 2013. It came back on 13 June 2018 as two channels, NME 1 and NME 2, and when the agreement with the magazine ended, they were renamed TMM 1 and TMM 2 on 10 December 2023.
TMM 1 is the one for the classics of guitar and alternative music, from 60s garage and 70s punk to 80s new wave and 90s grunge, mixed with a selection of new releases. Its sister channel, TMM 2, concentrates on new music, from indie to electronic, urban and dance. In the original NME Radio years, presenters included former XFM names such as Neil Cole and Claire Sturgess.
TMM 1 broadcasts 24 hours a day on DAB+ in London and Norwich, on TuneIn and on its own website, and on the live stream here.
