ROKit Radio live

ROKiT Radio describes itself as a not-for-profit streaming platform bringing listeners "the best shows from the Golden Age of radio and beyond". Instead of music, its channels play archive radio: comedy, drama, crime and mystery serials, science fiction and nostalgia from the decades when radio was the main form of home entertainment. The stream on this page is its British Comedy 1 channel, devoted to classic British comedy from the radio archive. It is one of two British comedy channels in the ROKiT line-up, alongside American comedy and a Comedy Gold channel. The platform runs more than fifteen themed channels in all, among them 1940s Radio, Adventure Stories, American Classics, Crime and Suspense, Drama Radio, Mystery Radio, Nostalgia Lane, Old Time Gold, Science Fiction and Jazz Central, with new material added to some channels every week. Archive comedy is a particularly good fit for radio. Many of Britain's best-loved comedies started on the wireless, and a great deal of that material survives only as audio. A stream like this lets it be heard continuously rather than as the occasional repeat. ROKiT Radio is online only, with apps for Android and iPhone. The live stream on this page plays British Comedy 1 in any browser.
