Frequently asked questions about ROKit Radio Science Fiction live
ROKit Radio Science Fiction has no place on the dial. It is one of the many British stations that launched as a stream rather than applying to Ofcom for a frequency, which is why specialist formats like this one exist at all — the audience for them is spread too thin for local FM. It plays here with nothing to install.
ROKit Radio Science Fiction works in pop. As an internet station it runs continuously, without the local opt-outs or news bulletins that punctuate broadcast radio.
Local, based in England — though the stream carries it well beyond its broadcast footprint.
An hour of ROKit Radio Science Fiction costs roughly 30 to 60 MB. For comparison, standard-definition video can use that in a few minutes.
Usually the connection rather than the station: streaming needs a steady flow and any dip interrupts it. Reloading the page fixes most cases; switching network or closing other tabs handles the rest.
