Frequently asked questions about SD Radio live
No — SD Radio broadcasts over the internet only, so there is no frequency to find on a set. That is a deliberate trade: an online station skips the cost of a broadcast licence and reaches the whole country from day one, but it needs a connection at the listener's end. Press play above and it runs in the browser.
Stations in this format usually run mixed sets rather than three-minute singles, because the music is built to be beat-matched and a set needs room to develop. That length is exactly what commercial daytime radio cannot accommodate, and it is why so much dance radio in Britain moved online.
Both, in practice. Rock stations in the UK tend to mix the established catalogue with new releases, partly because the audience spans several generations and partly because the domestic scene keeps producing.
Yes. The stream is open and there is nothing to configure, so SD Radio plays the same from anywhere. The only thing to watch is the time difference if you are following a particular programme.
No. SD Radio plays directly in the browser with nothing to download and no account to create. It works the same on Android, iPhone and desktop.
