Frequently asked questions about SSRadio live
No — SSRadio broadcasts over the internet only, so there is no frequency to find on a set. That is a deliberate trade: an online station skips the cost of a broadcast licence and reaches the whole country from day one, but it needs a connection at the listener's end. Press play above and it runs in the browser.
Britain has an unusual claim on this music — jungle, drum and bass, UK garage and grime all originated here — and stations like SSRadio exist to give those styles the airtime that playlist radio does not.
Soul, funk and R&B across eras, a lineage that has a particular history in Britain: northern soul turned obscure American records into a national club movement, and the appetite it created never really went away.
It covers the whole of the United Kingdom. British radio splits fairly sharply between national networks like this one and the local and community stations that serve a single area.
Free, with no subscription and no paid tier. British radio is funded either by advertising or, in the BBC's case, by the licence fee — either way, listening costs the listener nothing.
