Frequently asked questions about Brown Noise Radio live
No — Brown Noise Radio broadcasts over the internet only, so there is no frequency to find on a set. That is a deliberate trade: an online station skips the cost of a broadcast licence and reaches the whole country from day one, but it needs a connection at the listener's end. Press play above and it runs in the browser.
Generally nothing at all — the appeal is continuity. It is the opposite of a personality-led station, and the reason this format found its home online rather than on commercial radio.
Quite a few. You can browse them all on the National page, or use the genre pages if you are after a particular kind of music rather than a particular area.
Not especially — around 30 to 60 MB an hour. On a capped tariff a full working day of Brown Noise Radio would be noticeable, so wi-fi is worth using where you can.
Reload the page first, which resolves it most of the time. If it still will not start, the station may be restarting its own server — that clears on its own within a few minutes and is nothing to do with this site.
