About Heart West Midlands live

Technical details, frequency and station information

Heart West Midlands serves Birmingham, Coventry, Wolverhampton and the surrounding conurbation — after London, the largest audience Heart addresses anywhere in the country. The station is the successor to BRMB, one of Britain's original commercial licences, which went on air in 1974 and was a landmark of Birmingham broadcasting for nearly forty years before Global folded it into the Heart network. Listeners of a certain age still refer to it by the old name. Today it carries the national Heart output with regional news, travel and advertising, following the pattern Ofcom permitted from 2019 onwards when it allowed networked programming to replace most local shows. The trade-off is familiar across British commercial radio: fewer local voices, but a station that survives in a market where standalone local licences no longer pay for themselves. The playlist is Heart's usual broad adult pop, drawn across several decades and pitched against BBC WM and the Capital and Free Radio services in the same patch. Frequently asked questions about Heart West Midlands live

Heart West Midlands has no place on the dial. It is one of the many British stations that launched as a stream rather than applying to Ofcom for a frequency, which is why specialist formats like this one exist at all — the audience for them is spread too thin for local FM. It plays here with nothing to install.
Heavily. British rock and indie is one of the country's largest cultural exports, and stations working in this format draw on decades of it alongside international acts. Heart West Midlands sits in that tradition.
It works from any country. Some British broadcasters do replace certain music or sport on their international feeds because rights are sold by territory, but the station itself is not geo-blocked.
Heart West Midlands is on Facebook, X, Instagram and YouTube, and the links to its official accounts are in the details above. Stations tend to announce schedule changes and guests there before anywhere else.
The station's own site, linked further up this page, carries its schedule. We deliberately do not reproduce timetables here, because they go out of date quickly and a wrong one is worse than none.
