About Now 80s live

Technical details, frequency and station information

Now 80s is not a radio station at all but a free television channel devoted to 1980s music videos, and this page plays its sound. It belongs to the Now That's What I Call Music! family — the compilation series that has sold albums in Britain since 1983 — and is run by Penny Street TV, part of Universal Music Group. The channel started as a Christmas stunt. On 27 December 2016, in the 30th-anniversary year of the Now series, the contemporary pop channel Now Music was temporarily rebranded as Now 80s. The pop-up proved so popular that the 80s format was made permanent. What sets it apart from a playlist is the presentation. Between back-to-back videos, familiar radio voices from the era introduce the music, among them Pat Sharp, Mark Goodier and Simon Bates, whose long-running Golden Hour feature was adapted for the channel. Bruno Brookes presents the Now Yearbook series of playlists built around a single year, and pop stars of the decade, such as T'Pau's Carol Decker, have also appeared. The channel even shows episodes of the 80s TV series Fame. Now 80s is on Freeview through Channelbox, on Virgin Media and on Samsung TV Plus, which supplies the feed used here. Its sister channels include Now 70s, Now 90s & 00s, Now Rock and Clubland TV.
