About Greatest Hits Radio live
Technical details, frequency and station information
Greatest Hits Radio is Bauer's classic hits network, playing pop and rock from the 1970s, 80s and 90s under the slogan "The Good Times Sound Like This". Its stations reach around 7.5 million listeners a week, according to RAJAR figures from September 2024.
The network was built in a way that says a lot about modern British radio. It launched on 7 January 2019 as a rebrand of Bauer's existing City 2 stations, many of them the old 'Gold' services of local commercial stations. In May 2020 Bauer bought 48 more local stations from UKRD, Wireless, Lincs FM and Celador and moved many of them onto the brand. Listeners in several towns lost stations that had carried a local identity for decades, and the change set off a wider debate about how far consolidation in local radio should go.
Commercially it has worked, largely thanks to its presenters. Simon "Rossie" Ross presents breakfast across England, Ken Bruce has presented mid-mornings since leaving BBC Radio 2 in 2023, Simon Mayo presents drivetime and his Sunday Album Show, and Zoe Ball joined with an afternoon show on 7 September 2026.
Greatest Hits Radio holds more than 50 FM and DAB licences in England, Scotland and Wales, plus national DAB coverage, and streams on the Rayo app and online. Decade spin-offs for the 60s, 70s and 80s sit alongside it.
