BBC 6 Indie Forever live

6 Music Indie Forever is a 24-hour stream from BBC Radio 6 Music, available exclusively on BBC Sounds, devoted to indie pop, rock and classics from the 1980s to the 2010s and beyond. It launched on 22 July 2026 and is one of the newest services in the BBC's radio family. The playlist leans heavily on British music: UK artists make up 70% of it. Expect The Stone Roses, Oasis, Blur, Pulp and The Verve alongside The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, Florence + The Machine, The xx, Wolf Alice, The 1975, Sam Fender and Blossoms. Samantha Moy, head of 6 Music, described it as a stream that would "tell the stories and play the songs" of the UK's independent music scene across forty years. It is not just a playlist. On weekdays, The Morning Session with Steve Lamacq and The Maccabees' Felix White pays homage to the Evening Session, the Radio 1 show that championed indie in the 1990s. Beth Ditto hosts Indie Forever Disco on Fridays and Saturdays, Nathan Shepherd presents the flagship Indie Forever show on Friday evenings, and City Soundtracks, made with the Music Venue Trust and BBC Introducing, celebrates grassroots scenes around the UK. Classic Jarvis Cocker shows from the 6 Music archive also return. Indie Forever is on BBC Sounds rather than FM or DAB. The stream on this page plays it in any browser.
