About Heart Bristol live

Technical details, frequency and station information

Heart Bristol serves Bristol and Bath, carrying the Heart network's national output with regional news, travel and advertising. The licence has a long history in the city. It descends from the local commercial stations that served the west country from the 1980s onwards, brought under the Heart name during the consolidation that followed Global's purchase of GCap Media in 2008. Bristol is a substantial radio market with an unusually strong independent and community scene, so the station competes not only with BBC Radio Bristol but with a set of smaller stations that have real local followings. As with the rest of Heart's regional services, the local element is now the news bulletins, the travel and the commercial breaks. Ofcom's 2019 decision to allow networked programming removed most locally produced shows across British commercial radio, and Heart applied it throughout the group. The playlist is the network's familiar broad adult pop, spread across several decades. Press play above for the live feed, free and with nothing to download.

Frequently asked questions about Heart Bristol live

Neither. Heart Bristol is internet-only, which in practice means no coverage map and no interference: it sounds the same in Cornwall, in Glasgow and abroad. The player on this page carries the live feed, free and without an account.
Heart Bristol works in pop. As an internet station it runs continuously, without the local opt-outs or news bulletins that punctuate broadcast radio.
The National page on this site lists every station in the directory broadcasting there, with its frequency and format, which is the quickest way to compare Heart Bristol against the others nearby.
The station's own site, linked further up this page, carries its schedule. We deliberately do not reproduce timetables here, because they go out of date quickly and a wrong one is worse than none.
Its accounts on Facebook, X, Instagram and YouTube are linked on this page. Worth following if you want to know about one-off shows, which rarely appear in a published schedule.
