Heart South Wales live

Heart South Wales is the Heart service for Cardiff, Newport, Swansea and the valleys, carrying the network's national output with local news bulletins and regional advertising. Its history explains its shape. The station descends from Red Dragon Radio, one of the independent local stations that served south Wales from the 1980s, absorbed into Heart as Global consolidated dozens of regional licences under one brand. That process accelerated after 2019, when Ofcom allowed networked programming to replace most local shows: what remains local is the news, the travel and the commercial breaks rather than the presenters. That makes it a different proposition from Heart's decade channels. Those are formats; this is a place.
