About Heart Love live

Technical details, frequency and station information

Heart Love is a ballads channel: slow songs, duets and the sort of records that mainstream stations tend to ration to one an hour. It is a narrower format than it first appears. A station of nothing but love songs has to move across five decades and several genres to keep going, so the playlist runs from Motown through soft rock and power ballads to current chart material, held together by tempo and subject rather than by era or style. That is the opposite of how the decade channels are built. The format has an obvious seasonal peak around Valentine's Day, when Global promotes it heavily, but it runs year-round. It is carried on national DAB as well as online, which places it with Heart 70s, 80s, 90s, 10s and Musicals rather than with the stream-only channels like Heart Dance and Heart 00s. There is no local content and very little talk: this is a continuous playlist service. Heart Love broadcasts on DAB across the UK and streams online. The player above carries the live feed, free and with nothing to install.

Frequently asked questions about Heart Love live

No — Heart Love broadcasts over the internet only, so there is no frequency to find on a set. That is a deliberate trade: an online station skips the cost of a broadcast licence and reaches the whole country from day one, but it needs a connection at the listener's end. Press play above and it runs in the browser.
Because digital radio made it possible. Once DAB and streaming removed the scarcity of frequencies, broadcasters could split a general audience into single decades, and it turned out a great many people wanted exactly one decade rather than a mix.
Not blocked. Listening to British radio from abroad is one of the more common uses of streaming, and Heart Love is available worldwide, free and without an account.
Either a brief drop in your connection or a restart at the station's end. If other stations on this site play normally and only Heart Love does not, the source feed is the likely cause.
Free, with no subscription and no paid tier. British radio is funded either by advertising or, in the BBC's case, by the licence fee — either way, listening costs the listener nothing.
